Gabriel Bengtsson Manrique

Picture
Digital Artist & Swedish West Coast Coordinator

Gabriel Bengtsson Manrique has an international background in documentary filmmaking with a special interest in environmental and social justice issues. He favours alternative ways of funding and producing media projects and developed two full length crowdfunded documentaries, Porters of the Inca Trail and Sandgrains, that took him to Africa and South America as well as his native Europe.

His interest in anthropology as well as his background in activism are clear in his productions which have been featured in film festivals around the world and broadcast on several television networks. In addition to his filmmaking, he has delivered several talks with NGOs and political parties about the issues that his films cover.

In recent years he has worked on many aspects of both documentary and feature film productions, such as Freak Out! The Alternative Movement Begins and The Kings Choice. Currently working out of Konstepidemin in Gothenburg, Sweden, Gabriel is currently expanding into digital video art and experimental filmmaking whilst joining the Holobiont Project as the Swedish west coast coordinator.
